May 2021 - Hall with the area of 105,000 m2 for DHL Supply Chain in Poznań - Zalando is the tenant.

Panattoni to deliver huge e-commerce project in Poznań. DHL Supply Chain to provide over 800 jobs for its first tenant Zalando.

European industrial real estate leader Panattoni has completed the shell stage of another huge commission for the e-commerce sector. In Żerniki near Poznań, the developer is building a BTS facility with an area of 105,000 sqm for DHL Supply Chain. The latter company will use the space to carry out the logistics operations, among others, for Zalando required for distribution to several European markets – including Poland and Germany. The investment is being built in line with BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards and will be completed in August. Ultimately, 800 people will be employed there.

On the 25th of May 2021, Zalando, DHL Supply Chain and Panattoni celebrated the topping out ceremony of the investment to carry out the logistics operations for Zalando required for distribution to several European markets – including Poland and Germany. DHL Supply Chain will create overpositions for the logistics center created in the mid-term. The investment is being built by PANATTONI, built in line with BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards. Panattoni will, as part of this project, provide a reinforced floor, a VAS (value added service) zone with appropriate daylight access and a constant temperature, a three-storey office section with a kitchen, separate entrances for trucks and passenger cars, and special bays for buses.

As Katarzyna Kujawiak, Development Director of Panattoni comments: “With this investment in Żerniki, two huge brands are coming together, both of which have decided to take another important step in their expansion plans in this location, demonstrating their trust in Panattoni’s logistics and e-commerce development. I am glad that our understanding of the needs of a changing and expanding market has been recognised in this way.”

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Zalando on the Polish market. With this new investment we will create jobs for over 800 employees and make sure to deliver high quality standards to Zalando customers. We are also extremely proud that with this investment we will be able to support our GO GREEN strategy where we aim to leverage the latest green technologies to have carbon neutral buildings across our businesses worldwide”, says Monika Duda, Managing Director DHL Supply Chain in Poland.

The factors that determined Poznań as a location in Poland have been good geographical location and infrastructure with the direct connection to A2 highway and the quick possibility of ramping up the spoke.

Sustainability represents a key pillar in DHL Supply Chain, Panattoni and Zalando’s strategy. DHL, as the world's leading logistics company, is committed to make our business sustainable with a goal to reach zero emissions by 2050. Last year Zalando became the first platform to adopt an enhanced version of the SAC Higg Brand & Retail Module (Higg BRM), through which it has introduced a mandatory sustainability assessment for the brands sold through the company’s website.
The facility in Żerniki fits in perfectly with the values of both companies, as it will be Panattoni’s latest project to achieve BREEAM environmental certification at the very high level of ‘Excellent’. The developer will provide solutions important for both the environment and the well-being of the building’s users. The roof will be made strong enough to bear photovoltaic installations, flower meadows with insect houses are to be created, trees and shrubs will be planted at the entrance, and the developer will also provide so-called ‘green walls’. In addition, the users of the facility will be able to use bicycle shelters, electric car charging stations and relaxation zones bordered by tall plants, along with a small outdoor gym and picnic tables. In addition to this, on the 2nd floor of the office building the developer will create a green terrace with benches, phone charging points, light movable seats and tables, and potted plants.
